Security forces have killed 10 terrorists in separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) between Sept 15 and 17, while six soldiers were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack, the military’s media wing stated.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Thursday, security forces launched an Intelligence-Based Operation (IBO) in North Waziristan after receiving information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
“During the conduct of the operation, own troops effectively engaged the khawarij location and after intense exchange of fire, six khawarij belonging to Indian-sponsored Fitna Al-Khawarij were sent to hell,” ISPR said.
The military uses the term Fitna Al-Khawarij for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).
Security forces also engaged terrorists in Hangu district, where four more were killed, the ISPR added.
On Sept 17, an IED targeted a security forces convoy, killing six soldiers.
“Six brave sons of the soil rendered the ultimate sacrifice and embraced Shahadat,” ISPR confirmed.
Security forces recovered weapons and ammunition from the killed terrorists, who the ISPR said that remained involved in several terrorist activities in the area.
The military’s media wing said that sanitisation operations were underway to search for and eliminate any other terrorists in the area.
“The relentless Counter Terrorism campaign under vision ‘Azm-e-Istehkam’ (as approved by Federal Apex Committee on National Action Plan) by Security Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies of Pakistan will continue at full pace to wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism from the country,” it said.
ISPR added that the deaths of the soldiers further strengthened the security forces’ commitment to protecting the country.
