At least 11 people, including several women and children, died on Tuesday when a mud house roof collapsed during heavy rainfall in the Malgin area of Lachi tehsil, Kohat, KP. The tragedy, which also left 12 others injured, struck while a family hosted a gathering inside the residence.

Rescue 1122 officials identified relentless downpours as the cause of the structural failure in the hilly village. As the building gave way, the debris trapped approximately 15 individuals. Rescue teams immediately rushed to the site and launched a frantic operation to locate and extract victims from the rubble.

Recovery efforts continued for several hours. By the time rescuers reached the trapped individuals, 11 people had already succumbed to their injuries.

The deceased include, but are not limited to, 50-year-old Basmeena, 45-year-old Nawab Jana, 45-year-old Farmeena, and six-year-old Arham.

Medical staff provided immediate first aid to the 12 survivors, mostly women and children, before ambulances transferred them to local hospitals for urgent care.

Severe weather impacted areas far beyond Kohat. In Attock, a wall collapse injured five people. Further south, heavy rains forced rainwater rivers to overflow their banks in the tribal areas of Dera Ghazi Khan.
