A school van fell into a ravine and caught fire on Angoori Road in Murree, leaving 11 people injured, including several children, rescue officials said on Tuesday.
The van crashed near Lower Mohra Barahotra after the vehicle lost control, causing it to fall off the road before it caught fire, rescue officials have said.
The vehicle was carrying students from private and government schools. Rescue teams shifted all the injured to Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, where Murree District Police Officer (DPO) Raza Tanveer visited them and checked up on their condition.
The DPO said that eight of the injured children were stable, while three children identified as Arham, Hasan Talib and Ayesha, were referred for further treatment.
An initial report found that 11 people were travelling in the van despite the vehicle having a capacity of eight passengers.
All 11 occupants suffered injuries after the van caught fire. The initial report suggested that a battery spark caused the fire. The report also stated that the van did not have a fire extinguisher.
