Security forces have in separate Balochistan operations killed 11 terrorists, including eight who were intercepted while attempting to block a road in Kharan, the military said on Wednesday.
The operations were conducted in Kharan and Washuk districts on September 6 and 7 based on intelligence about the presence of terrorists affiliated with what the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) described as the India-sponsored Fitna al-Hindustan.
In Kharan, security forces responded to an attempt by terrorists to establish a roadblock and disrupt traffic on September 6. Eight terrorists were killed during the ensuing engagement, ISPR said.
The following day, troops carried out an operation against a suspected terrorist hideout in Washuk district.
Three terrorists were killed following an exchange of fire, according to the military’s media wing.
Security forces also recovered 2.9 tonnes of explosives during the operations. ISPR said the material was being used to prepare improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Search and sanitisation operations are continuing in the areas to ensure that no other terrorists remained there, ISPR added.
The military further said the operations were part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under Azm-e-Istehkam, which was approved by the Federal Apex Committee of the National Action Plan.
The latest operations come amid continued terrorist violence, especially in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
