A 12-year-old girl has been allegedly sexually assaulted by a pir during a visit to his premises in Chakwal for spiritual healing, according to her family, who later registered a case with police.

The girl had gone to the pir’s premises with her siblings to receive ‘dumm’ when the alleged assault took place, her relatives said.

According to the victim’s account, the pir allegedly threatened her with a firearm before sexually assaulting her.

She further alleged that he threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident.

The girl’s family subsequently approached police and registered a case against the pir over the alleged assault.

No further details about the charges or the suspect’s arrest were immediately available.

The case comes amid previous police action against individuals accused of misusing spiritual healing practices to target women.

On June 22, police in Lahore’s Harbanspura area arrested Abdul Rauf, described by authorities as a fake pir, after he was accused of inappropriate behaviour and attempting to sexually assault women under the pretext of providing spiritual healing.

Police said Abdul Rauf had entered a house on the pretext of performing dumm and persuaded family members to leave the room.

He then allegedly behaved inappropriately towards a woman who was left alone inside.

A case was registered against Abdul Rauf on the complaint of the woman’s brother, and police said the suspect was taken into custody.
