At least 13 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed as Pakistani security forces reponded to unprovoked aggression in the Gulistan sector along the Pak-Afghan border.
According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB), the clash took place during the night of September 24-25, followed by what the ministry described as “heavy punishment” inflicted on Taliban positions.
Several Afghan Taliban personnel were also injured, it said.
In a post on X, the ministry rejected an Afghan claim that a Pakistani post near Spin Boldak had been destroyed and that Afghan forces had suffered no casualties, calling it “fake and fabricated”.
The ministry also released visuals which it said showed the border engagement and subsequent action against Afghan Taliban positions.
The confrontation came after a series of attempted drone incursions from Afghanistan earlier this week.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said Pakistan responded with precision air and drone strikes on 10 locations in Afghanistan.
Pakistani security forces said they also intercepted and shot down eight drones that entered the country’s airspace from Afghanistan.
Four were brought down near the Torkham border, while four others were downed in mountainous areas around Kohat.
Separately, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the military’s media wing, said 33 Indian-sponsored terrorists had been killed in separate operations across Balochistan since September 21.
The ISPR said five terrorists were killed on September 24 after security forces raided additional hideouts during Operation Shaban, taking the total number of killed terrorists in the operation to 22.
Weapons, ammunition and explosives were recovered, it added.
In another Intelligence-Based Operation, security forces killed 11 terrorists in Nushki district on September 25 following an exchange of fire, the ISPR reported.
