A 13-year-old girl has been shot dead, allegedly by her cousin in Mianwali, for leaving home without wearing a hijab, according to police and the victim’s father.
Police said that the girl’s body was taken to a hospital for a post-mortem examination. A murder case has been registered at Sadar police station, with her father named as the complainant.
According to the FIR [First Information Report], the father said that he had gone out with his daughter to buy groceries when the suspect stopped them and objected to her leaving home without a hijab.
The suspect allegedly told the girl, “You left the house without a hijab. I will teach you a lesson today,” before opening fire on her.
The father told police that the suspect, his daughter’s paternal cousin, fired seven shots at her with a pistol in front of him.
Police have registered a case in connection with the killing. The report did not provide further details about the suspect’s arrest or the progress of the investigation.
