A 15-year-old girl has allegedly been sexually assaulted and killed in Rawalpindi’s Khayaban-i-Sir Syed area, with police recovering her body from a house near her residence, according to news reports.
Police said the girl went missing on Tuesday after leaving home to attend classes at a madrassa. Her family later registered a kidnapping case at Pirwadhai police station, according to the FIR [First Information Report].
The girl’s body was subsequently recovered from the house of a relative near her home, police said. Investigators collected evidence from the scene before shifting the body to a hospital for a post-mortem examination.
According to the FIR, police identified the suspect as Mumraiz, who is the victim’s maternal uncle by marriage.
In a video statement, the victim’s father said his daughter had been missing since around 2pm on Tuesday.
He added that her body was found at the house of his relative near their residence.
The circumstances surrounding the girl’s death and the alleged sexual assault are under investigation. Police have not disclosed further details about the evidence collected from the scene.
Rawalpindi City Police Officer Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has ordered the immediate arrest of the suspect allegedly involved in the case.
