Police have added a murder charge to a case involving the death of an 18-year-old domestic worker in Lahore’s Model Town area who died during treatment days after accusing two men of sexual assault.

According to police, the woman had alleged in written and video statements that she was subjected to repeated sexual assault by her landlord’s son and a driver over several months.

Investigators said that the woman stated in a video recorded before her death that her family became aware of her pregnancy in November 2025. She further alleged that the abuse continued during that period.

Police said that the woman was later taken to a private clinic in Raiwind for abortion, after which her condition deteriorated. She was subsequently shifted to Services Hospital, where authorities were informed about the case.

Based on her written complaint and video statement, police registered a case against the suspects. However, investigators said that the woman later revised her statement and accused only the driver. Police officials claimed that the change was made under pressure from the landlords and the victim’s father.

The woman remained under treatment for two days before passing away, police said.

Following her death, investigators incorporated murder provisions into the FIR [First Information Report]. Police officials stated that further progress in the case would depend on the post-mortem report, which is expected to help determine the cause of death and assist investigators in establishing additional facts.

The investigation is ongoing.

Reacting to the incident, Hina Parvez Butt, Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, described the case as “extremely shameful” in a post on X.

“The incident of gang rape with a domestic employee in Model Town is extremely shameful. Regrettably, the girl lost her life during the abortion. Remember, no matter how influential the criminals may be, they will not be spared under any circumstances,” she wrote.
