Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has shared an update on the ongoing Operation Ghazab-Lil Haq, stating that 796 Afghan Taliban operatives have been killed and more than 1,043 injured.

In a post on X on Sunday, Tarar provided a breakdown of terrorist losses, stating that 286 posts had been destroyed and 44 captured by Pakistani forces.

He added that 249 tanks, armoured vehicles, artillery guns and drones had been destroyed, while 81 locations across Afghanistan were targeted through air operations.

“As part of these operations on night 2/3 April, an attempt to physically attack a border post in Ghulam Khan Sector by Afghan Taliban / FAK was comprehensively foiled in which they suffered heavy casualties including upto 37 sent to hell and 80+ injured,” he wrote.

The operation, launched over a month ago, resumed after a pause during Eidul Fitr, which authorities had observed following requests from Islamic countries. The pause ended at midnight between March 23 and 24.

Officials have said that the operation was initiated in response to unprovoked action from across the Afghan border, including firing on multiple locations. Islamabad has maintained that earlier air strikes carried out in February targeted militant positions.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused the Afghan Taliban of not taking action against groups carrying out attacks inside its territory.

Separately, Pakistan questioned the position of United Nations (UN) human rights experts who had stated there was no “credible evidence” linking attacks by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to Afghan soil.

In response, officials pointed to multiple reports by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) monitoring teams, along with other international assessments, which they said documented the presence and operational activity of militant groups in Afghanistan.

According to these reports, more than 20 international groups are operating from Afghan territory, with an estimated 13,000 to 23,000 foreign fighters, including over 6,000 linked to the TTP.

The assessments also documented over 600 attacks in Pakistan launched from Afghan soil and noted the presence of groups such as Al-Qaeda and ISIL-K (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – Khorasan Province), along with what Pakistan described as support and facilitation enabling cross-border activity.
