Abbas Afridi’s 37-run over powers Pakistan past Kuwait in Hong Kong Sixes

Pakistan opened their Hong Kong Sixes campaign with a confident four wicket win against Kuwait on Friday.

 

Captain Abbas Afridi won the toss and opted to bowl first. 

 

Kuwait scored 123 for two in the allotted six overs. Opener Adnan Idrees made 17 while Bilal Tahir added 24. Meet Bhusra scored 41 and wicketkeeper batter Usman Patel contributed 31 as both remained unbeaten. 

 

Abbas Afridi and Moaz Sadaqat took one wicket each for Pakistan.

 

Pakistan chased the target comfortably and sealed the match with one wicket down. 

 

Khawaja Nafeh scored 25 not out and Shahid Aziz added 23 not out. Mohammad Shehzad retired hurt on 14 and left the field. Abdullah Samad returned for zero. Abbas Afridi played a brilliant knock of 55, smashing one four and eight sixes off just 12 balls. He earned the player of the match award.

 

Mohammad Shafiq claimed the lone wicket for Kuwait. 

 

Pakistan will face India in their next match today.
