Actor Shahvir Kadwani has drawn criticism on social media over his pronunciation of the Urdu word ‘fakhar’ (pride) in a scene from his ongoing drama Mohabbat.
Viewers on social media said that Kadwani pronounced ‘Fakhar’ as ‘Fakar’, with the clip sparking criticism over his Urdu pronunciation, dialogue delivery and acting.
One social media user wrote, “Reason #9102389 why actors need to learn the proper pronunciation of Urdu words before they start acting. Otherwise, in situations like these, ‘Fakhar’ becomes something totally different when pronounced incorrectly.”
Several viewers also criticised Kadwani’s Urdu pronunciation, with some saying actors should learn the correct pronunciation of words before appearing in dramas. Others pointed out his difficulty with the ‘Kh’ sound and questioned whether the way some actors pronounce Urdu is influenced by Bollywood or Western media.
Some users described the performance as “disgusting”, while another told Kadwani to either learn proper pronunciation or quit acting.
The criticism also moved towards Kadwani’s casting, with users linking his role to his father, producer Abdullah Kadwani. One social media user said that if an actor’s father is a producer, anything is possible, while others labelled Kadwani a “nepotism kid” and said “Kadwani Jr will sink this drama.”
Users also took aim at his acting and dialogue delivery, with some sarcastically praising his performance while others said they felt embarrassed watching him act. One comment questioned whether his delivery was supposed to appear tough, while another said the role could have been given to them instead.
Other viewers mocked the performance, with one saying the bag had given the best performance. Another user joked that an actor’s father being a producer could explain his casting.
The pronunciation itself also became a source of jokes, with one X user saying that they had initially thought the drama was using the F-word before realising that Kadwani had actually said “Fakhar”. Another user wrote ‘I am proud’ in what appeared to be a reference to the meaning of “Fakhar” while mocking the pronunciation.
Kadwani plays Zarrar in Geo TV’s ongoing drama Mohabbat, alongside Feroze Khan, Nawal Saeed, Aina Asif and Savera Nadeem. The drama premiered on September 28, 2026.
The story follows brothers Yahya and Zarrar, who belong to a wealthy family. Yahya falls in love with Asiya, a middle-class woman working at his office, while Zarrar marries his friend Meherma after she proposes to him to escape personal problems.
Yahya’s relationship with Asiya faces opposition from his mother Saleha, who agrees to their proposal while secretly planning to humiliate Asiya and her family.
