Pakistani singer and politician Abrar Ul Haq took playful jabs at fellow public figures Iqrar Ul Hassan and Jawad Ahmed over their political ambitions during a recent appearance on a television show hosted by Mohsin Abbas Haider.

When the conversation turned to Iqrar Ul Hassan, Abrar Ul Haq linked Iqrar’s personal life to his political suitability, drawing laughs with a pointed remark about his three marriages.

“A man who can manage three wives can also manage the public, I believe, because a wife is complete politics. It should be taught as a subject at university. So, the one who has managed three wives can maybe become a successful politician,” he said.

Abrar Ul Haq was equally sharp when addressing singer and politician Jawad Ahmed’s claim that a laborer would earn the equivalent of one tola of gold if he came to power.

“I just enjoy his big claims because I can’t do anything else. Only he can make claims like these,” he said.

When the host pressed him on who, between the two, was Pakistan’s last hope, Abrar Ul Haq was straightforward in his answer, saying that neither Jawad Ahmed nor Iqrar Ul Hassan held that title.

Abrar Ul Haq rose to fame in the early 1990s with his Punjabi hit “Billo” and has since remained a prominent figure in Pakistani music and public life. Beyond his career in entertainment, he is widely recognised for his work in the healthcare sector.
