Journalist Mansoor Ali Khan on Friday pushed back against a social media post falsely stating that he had claimed that Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Maryam Nawaz has been diagnosed with cancer during her ongoing visit to Geneva.
Resharing a post by Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari, Mansoor wrote, “This is an absolute wrong attribution. I have not claimed anything like that in any of my vlogs. Its sad to see such fake posts being attributed to Maryam Nawaz. I would request the authorities to take legal action against this page.”
Bokhari had earlier responded to the outlet’s claim, writing, “This is absolutely false news; Mansoor Sahib should come forward himself and correct it, such false propaganda about someone’s life is highly condemnable.”

In his YouTube video, Mansoor had in fact done the opposite of what was being attributed to him. He was citing his sources directly, stating, “When I asked whether the reports of cancer were true, I was clearly told that this is completely false and baseless.”
Mansoor said he spoke to people currently present with Maryam Nawaz in Geneva.
“Around two years ago, while in Geneva, she had a thyroid-related issue for which she underwent medical tests and treatment. At that time, there were suspicions that it could be cancer, but it was later confirmed that it was not cancer,” he said, adding that this current visit is connected to follow-up medical concerns from that same period.
He further shared that her medical tests have been conducted, and the reports are expected within three days, after which a medical board will review the results and decide on the next course of action.
He also noted that some cardiac tests have been carried out and that Maryam Nawaz is expected to return to Pakistan a few days after her spokesperson Maryam Aurangzeb, who is due back within 24 hours, lands home.
This is not the first time her Geneva visits have triggered such speculation. During a similar visit in 2024, Maryam Nawaz addressed cancer rumors directly at a PML-N event in London, attended by her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The full picture of her current condition is expected to become clearer once her medical reports are finalised.
