Alibaba.com has put forward a set of AI-powered digital solutions aimed at helping Pakistani Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) reach international buyers and grow their export footprint.
A delegation from the company, led by Asia-Pacific General Manager Shawn Yang, met Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (PM) on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan on Monday to discuss cooperation on digital trade, industrial growth and SME export expansion.
The talks centred on rolling out the ‘DigiSME Pakistan’ initiative in collaboration with the Small and Medium Enterprises Authority (SMEDA), along with broader plans to extend Pakistan’s online export reach.
Yang said that Pakistani products were well-positioned to attract international buyers through Alibaba.com’s platform. He also pointed to the company’s AI-driven matching tools, which he said connected Pakistani sellers with overseas demand.
Khan referred to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) signed between Alibaba Group and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his recent visit to China, saying the platform’s services would help SMEs plug into global markets through digital trade and open up new economic opportunities.
