Ameer Gilani knew his death scene in Zanjeerain had hit hard when he woke up to find both his parents in tears after watching the episode.
The actor shared a candid video on his Instagram Stories showing his parents visibly emotional after watching the scene in which his character Mudassir is shot dead. His father was seen wiping away tears with a tissue, while his mother was equally moved.
Gilani, who said his mother cries easily, was clearly caught off guard by his father’s reaction. “Woke up to this… mama is an easy crier but baba?? Hahaha Achievement unlocked,” he wrote alongside the video.
The scene that triggered the teary breakdown took place in Episode 12. The episode opens on a tender note, with newlyweds Rabiya and Mudassir sharing quiet, happy moments together. Mudassir celebrates Rabiya’s birthday and the couple’s warmth draws viewers in before the story takes a devastating turn.
A sudden threat arrives in the form of Torsam, and the situation escalates fast. Mudassir hides Rabiya inside a water tank to protect her, then faces the attacker alone and unarmed. He fights bravely but is shot during the confrontation. Sarbuland arrives too late to save him, while Rabiya remains hidden in the water tank with nobody aware of her whereabouts, leaving viewers both heartbroken and deeply unsettled about what comes next.
The response from fans was just as overwhelming. Co-star Sajal Aly shared a fan-made video edit of the on-screen couple Biya and Mudassir on her Instagram Story, tagging Gilani with crying emojis. He reshared it with a message that stopped fans in their tracks: “In another life Biya… I promise.”
As messages continued pouring in, Gilani shared another story expressing his gratitude. “Tahajjud truly works guys… I cannot thank you all enough for all the love. It is unbelievable Alhamdulillah,” he wrote. “This is what an actor dreams of, to be loved and appreciated for what we do on screen… I don’t know what more to say. A BIG BIG HUG to you all,” he added.
He also posted a screenshot showing his name trending in Pakistan as viewers continued to mourn Mudassir’s death and praise his performance.
