Historic sculptures were discovered during maintenance work at Karachi’s Lee Market, prompting an immediate public response as citizens gathered around the site to witness the recovery of ancient artifacts.
According to the details, the objects were unearthed as Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) worked on extensive road repair and renovation projects at the historic commercial centre.
Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab immediately visited the location to inspect the ongoing restoration work and examine the recovered items that included two intriguing historical statues.
Officials acted promptly to move the fragile artifacts away from the active construction zone to ensure their complete safety and preservation.
Mayor Wahab said that the administration was maintaining close contact with the departments of culture and archaeology.
He added the KMC and the Department of Culture were collaborating to investigate the history of the artifacts and scientifically determine their true antiquity and authenticity.
Furthermore, the mayor instructed all municipal staff and development teams to exercise extreme caution during ongoing excavation procedures to prevent any potential damage to historical heritage hidden beneath the area.
