Anne Hathaway has gone viral on a massive scale after using the phrase “InshaAllah” during a recent interview with a magazine, where she reflected on ageing, decision-making and her outlook on life.
Hathaway said: “I want to live a long, healthy life, Inshallah, I hope so”.
The moment quickly spread across social media, where users reacted to her use of the phrase, with many saying they did not expect it in the middle of the interview. Some users said that they had to replay the clip to confirm what they heard, while others commented on her pronunciation and the way she used it naturally in the conversation.
One user wrote that hearing her say “InshaAllah” felt surprising, while another said that the moment reflected how widely the phrase is now heard in global speech.
In the same interview, Hathaway spoke about being in her 40s has shifted her perspective on life choices, allowing her to look back at earlier decisions and assess whether to continue on the same path or change direction.
She added that age has given her a clearer understanding of the idea of “taking things with a grain of salt” and learning to “value the chill”.
Hathaway also reflected on ageing itself, saying, “You can either fear aging, or you can fear dying young,” a line that was also widely circulated by viewers online.
She further noted that uncertainty remains constant regardless of age, adding, “You still never know what’s coming around the corner… and that’s true if you’re like 11 or you’re 43”.
In the interview, she said that she approaches ageing with “curiosity,” focusing on how perspectives evolve rather than resisting the process.
