Apple has extended its free satellite connectivity service for another year for existing users of supported iPhone models, allowing iPhone 14, iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 users to continue accessing satellite-based features without a subscription.

The extension applies to supported iPhones activated before September 9, 2026. Apple introduced satellite connectivity with the iPhone 14 in 2022 and initially offered users two years of complimentary access. The company has now extended the free period again, giving eligible users continued access to the service.

Users can access Emergency SOS, send messages via satellite, share their location through Find My during the extended period. The services are designed to provide connectivity when users are outside cellular and Wi-Fi coverage.

The extension also means some early iPhone 14 users who had expected their free access to end in late 2024 can continue using the satellite features without paying for them. The latest extension means those users can access the services until at least fall 2027.

The extended trial appeared in documentation linked to Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro launch, while Apple has also stated on its website that satellite connectivity is available as a limited-time free trial.

Apple has not announced how much users will have to pay to continue using the satellite connectivity services after the free period ends. The company has also not specified future pricing for individual users.
