Pakistan’s javelin star and Olympic gold medalist Arshad Nadeem has withdrawn from an upcoming competition in Switzerland to focus on training in England ahead of key events later this year.

Speaking to the media, Arshad confirmed that he will miss the Switzerland event and travel directly to England for an intensive training camp. “I have skipped the event in Switzerland. Now I am going straight to England for training. After training there, I will participate in the Diamond League in Poland on August 16,” he said.

He added that his main target is the World Championship scheduled for September in Tokyo. “My entire focus is on the World Championship in Tokyo in September. I am leaving for London on July 14 for training,” Arshad said.

Explaining his decision, Arshad revealed that he had experienced a muscle strain in his shin during training in Pakistan. “I had a strain in my shin during training here. I did not want it to worsen, so I decided to withdraw from the event. Coach Salman Iqbal Butt will accompany me,” he shared.

Arshad also noted that Pakistan’s weather conditions made training difficult. “It is extremely hot here, and the monsoon season has started too. Training here has become challenging, so I am going to England, where the weather will be pleasant and the training will be better,” he said.

He added that there is always a risk of injury during this season in Pakistan. “That’s why I had a strain in my shin. In England, I will recover properly and prepare well for the two major events,” he added.

It merits mention that Arshad Nadeem was originally scheduled to compete at the World Athletics Silver Tour on July 15.
