Singer Asim Azhar found himself at the centre of a social media storm after publicly praising Youtuber Rajab Butt, with users calling the interaction an embarrassment and accusing Azhar of enabling misogyny.
Butt posted a reel on Instagram set to Azhar’s song Tu Hai Wohi. Azhar shared it on his Instagram story with the caption: “Nahhh this is peak love it brooo aap ne level bht high set kardiya hai”. He also commented on the reel directly, writing: “shehzada lag rha hai mera bhai thank you so much my love”.
The reaction online was swift and largely negative. Many social media users targeted Azhar specifically, questioning his judgment in amplifying Butt’s content.
“Are you seriously praising this man, what the hell is wrong with you,” one user wrote. Another said, “Asim you really should be ready for the backlash now.” A third added, “Asim Azhar really wants people to drag him down”.
Several comments pointed to what users described as Butt’s track record of disrespecting women. “One red flag appreciating another red flag,” read one reply.
Another user wrote: “Seeing Asim Azhar showering love over Rajab Butt is so ewww. Given the type of person Rajab is, he has always been seen disrespecting women and fulfils all the boxes of being a misogynist and then Asim comes calling him bhai, my love. I mean, you know who are you enabling?”
The criticism extended to Azhar’s personal credibility. “I literally thought Asim had some class,” wrote one user. Another posted: “Asim Azhar really said ‘let me throw my entire reputation in the trash’ by praising Rajab Butt. We expected better. We were wrong”.
Some users tied the interaction to Azhar’s music. One user wrote: “Tu Hai Wohi got flopped, and Asim Azhar really thought promoting it through someone like Rajab Butt would help? Straight up embarrassing and pathetic. Do better, Asim”.
Others kept it short. “If apni fielding khud set karna had a face,” one comment read. Another simply said: “Lollll one more reason to cancel Asim Azhar”.
One netizen added: “Asim calling Rajab bhai was not in my bingo 2026”. And one more commented: “Funny how these specific breeds of men are always connected somehow”.
A few users extended the criticism to both. “Both are of same level,” one opined. Another said: “Both are overrated, honestly we all really need to stop giving attention to these people.” One user summed it up as: “A cheater supporting another cheater”.
