Senior Pakistani actress Asma Abbas’ husband (retd) Colonel Ghulam Abbas became emotional while remembering his late first wife and opened up about the regret he still carries over his second marriage.
The couple recently appeared on Wasi Shah’s show Zabardast, where Ghulam Abbas spoke about marrying Asma Abbas and admitted that he did not initially tell his first wife about the marriage.
Ghulam Abbas said that he still regrets hiding the truth from his first wife and lying to her about his second marriage.
“I should have taken responsibility for my decision at that time and told my first wife the truth. I should not have hidden it from her and should have spoken to her clearly,” he said.
Asma Abbas also explained that her husband could not properly express regret to his first wife during her lifetime.
The conversation became emotional when Ghulam Abbas recalled his first wife’s final moments. He said that she was in severe pain at the time and remembered trying to express his feelings by touching her feet, but he could not put his emotions into words.
“I touched her feet to express my feelings and regret, but I could not say it in words,” he said, tearing up.
Ghulam Abbas also stressed the importance of expressing feelings before it is too late.
“A person should express what is in their heart during their lifetime. They should say it directly in words,” he stressed.
He added that while people can understand each other through emotions, expressing feelings openly remains important.
Ghulam Abbas became tearful as he remembered his late first wife and reflected on the bond they shared throughout their lives.
Asma Abbas also shared that she had a good relationship with her husband’s first wife.
