The office of the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore has informed the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday that women's right movement Aurat March has been given permission to hold a rally on February 12.
Justice Anwar Hussain of the LHC heard the petition filed by Leena Ghani, Neelum Hussain and others, challenging the DC office for refusing to grant them permission to hold the rally.
An official of the Punjab government presented security plans for the rally in the court.
The judge then deposed of the petition after being told by the government lawyer that foolproof security will be provided to the participants of the march.
Aurat March will carry out a procession from Lahore Press Club to Edgerton Road. Although the International Women's Day is held on March 8, Aurat March plans to carry out its annual rally on February 12 this year, to mark National Women's Day in Pakistan.
