B Praak ditches BeerBiceps' podcast after controversial jokes
Singer B Praak has refused to appear on influencer Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast, criticising him for his "pathetic thinking" after a controversial remark on a reality show sparked outrage.
Allahbadia, also known as BeerBiceps, faced backlash for his comment about "parents and sex" on comedian Samay Raina's YouTube show India's Got Latent.
He has 10.5 million subscribers on his YouTube channel, where he hosts the podcast The Ranveer Show.
The clip went viral, leading to heavy criticism. He later apologised and requested the show's creators to remove the segment.
In an Instagram video, Praak said, "I was supposed to be on BeerBiceps' podcast, but we cancelled it. The words he used on Samay Raina's show were unacceptable."
"This is not our Indian culture. What story are you telling about your parents? What are you even talking about? Is this comedy? This is not at all comedy. Abusing people, teaching people how to abuse, what kind of generation (is this)? I don't understand," he said.
The controversy has escalated, with a BJP functionary filing a police complaint against Allahbadia, Raina, and the show's participants. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has also called for action, while the National Commission for Women (NCW) is reviewing the matter.
Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis commented that, while freedom of speech is important, it should not cross limits. The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) also condemned Allahbadia's remarks.
However, Samay Raina has yet to respond to the controversy.
