Asim Azhar has praised team Pakistan after defeating England in the first T20 in the three-match series on Friday at Trent Bridge.
“B team se aise khelte hain jaise wo A hain aur A team se aise jaise wo B hain. Only Pakistan things,” wrote Asim while expressing his joy on Twitter.
Similarly, Michael Vaughan couldn’t stop himself from appreciating Team Green, saying: “Pakistan are so unpredictably brilliant to watch … Gone from the local village team to looking like world-beaters in a week! Love watching them.”
Asim also lauded Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan for their blasting innings. He wrote: “Electric start by Babar & Rizwan!!! Flag of PakistanFire need 220+ on this pitch & ground tho to defend well.”
Former captain Shahid Afridi said: “We have a formidable T20I squad and I’m backing the team to do well in the series. All the best boys let’s have a good start today.”
In another tweet, he said: “It was a delight to see Pakistan batsmen playing in true T20 style, great combined effort. Bowling and fielding did great under real pressure. Top work Shaheen, Hasnain, Shadab.”
Pakistan posted their highest total of 232 for 6 in T20Is. Their previous best was 205 for 3, against the West Indies in Karachi in 2018. This is also the third-highest total by any team against England in T20Is.
Azam and Rizwan’s 150-run partnership is the second-highest stand for Pakistan for any wicket. The same pair had added 197 runs for the first wicket against South Africa in Centurion in April this year.
Shaheen Shah Afridi won the Player of the Match award for figures of 3 for 30 in 3.2 overs in the Twenty20 series opener.
England were all bowled out hitting 201 with four balls remaining while chasing the 233-run target. Earlier, the hosts won the toss and elected to put the tourists in the series opener. ‘Congratulations Pakistan’ started trending on Twitter soon after the win over English team.
