Babar Azam has set a new world record during Peshawar Zalmi's Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 match against Karachi Kings on Thursday, becoming the fastest batter to reach 12,000 runs in T20 cricket.
The Pakistan star reached the milestone in 338 innings, breaking the previous record held by West Indies great Chris Gayle, who had achieved the feat in 345 innings.
Virat Kohli reached 12,000 T20 runs in 360 innings, while David Warner did so in 368.
Babar is the 12th batter in the world and only the second Pakistani to reach 12,000 T20 runs, following former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik.
Babar scored 87 off 51 balls as Zalmi posted 246 against Karachi Kings. Kusal Mendis complemented Babar's knock with a brilliant 109, and the pair put together the highest partnership in PSL history.
Karachi Kings were bowled out for 87 in reply, with Azam Khan top-scoring for them with 25.
