Babar, Rizwan, Shaheen join Karachi training camp

The Pakistan Cricket Board has included Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi in the national white-ball training camp in Karachi, indicating they are still in plans for future matches.

The three senior players are not part of the 15-member squad travelling for the upcoming T20I tour but will train alongside the team. The PCB announced on Tuesday that they have been added as extra members of the training group, which will prepare at the National Bank Stadium from July 9 to 15. All players are expected to report today.

This move suggests that Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen could return for Pakistan’s next series, possibly against the West Indies if the ODIs go ahead. With no international cricket for nearly a month, and the players out of action for even longer, the camp will help them stay match-ready for a quick comeback.

Naseem Shah and Wasim Jr have also been included in the camp to continue their fitness work, despite not making the touring squad for Bangladesh.

The PCB is trying to build a fresh T20I side while keeping senior players involved to guide younger talent. Although rotation has given new faces a chance, the presence of Babar, Rizwan and Shaheen in the camp shows the experienced core is still very much part of Pakistan’s future plans.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Pakistan men’s cricket team selection committee announced a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Bangladesh.

The 15-member squad for the Bangladesh series includes: Salman Ali Agha (captain), Abrar Ahmed, Ahmed Daniyal, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Abbas Afridi, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan (wk), Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, and Sufyan Moqim.
