Tamasha season 5 winner Babrik Shah has said that his bond with Rabia Javaid inside the Tamasha house was deliberate, and that he changed his approach after he learned she was married.
Speaking about their dynamic during a recent podcast, Babrik said that their time together always produced the same result.
“Whenever I used to hang out with Rabia, something beautiful would always come out of it, and that was romantic comedy,” he said.
He said he pursued the connection on purpose. “My relationship with her was deliberate because I genuinely wanted to have a relationship with her,” he revealed, adding that he found her very attractive. “As you know, I have a thing for pretty faces.”
Babrik said he did not know Rabia was married at first. Contestants lived under a non-disclosure agreement, so they knew little about each other’s personal backgrounds. He said he knew Laila quite well and Zee a little. Laila mentioned the marriage in passing, and Ramsha later confirmed it.
“I thought to myself, ‘Well, there goes 50 percent of my points right off the bat,’” he recalled.
Babrik said that Badar Salam then sat the pair down to clarify the situation. According to Babrik, Badar told him, “This isn’t some dramatic love affair.” Badar also explained that people in that circle often have various marriages and relationships in their past.
Babrik said that he felt the story was heading in the wrong direction. He read out the script to Badar and kept his distance from Rabia for three days.
He used that time to decide how to move forward with her. “Let’s just be normal friends,” he said he told himself. “Instead of forcing a romantic comedy vibe and trying to manufacture fun, let’s just be regular friends first. If a natural comedic dynamic happens later, then great.”
Babrik stated that the friendship still included minor arguments. Rabia would ask why he spoke in such a loud voice, and he would reply that he is a man and his natural voice is loud.
He remembered that Rabia told him to match his tone to hers, and he joked that he would.
Many comments on his remarks focused on Babrik’s own marital status.
One user wrote, “Khud k to married hony ka pta tha na 😂 [You knew you yourself were married, didn’t you?].”
Another wrote, “Tf😂.”
A third user wrote, “Iski asliyat bahir arahi hai aista aista😂 [His true nature is slowly coming out].”
One person wrote, “To Kya yeh khud married ni jahil. Insan.. [So is he not married himself? Ignorant person].”
Another asked, “But you knew you were married? 🤡”
It merits a mention that Babrik Shah won Tamasha season 5, with Esra Ayesha finishing as runner-up.
