An Indian user on X has praised Lahore’s infrastructure as they shared a video showing several of the city’s major roads and landmarks.

The video featured Lahore’s CBD underpass, Liberty Square, DHA Phase 5, Dolmen Mall and Ferozepur Road.

“You can troll the Pakistani govt as much as you want, but the truth is that Pakistan’s road infrastructure is better than the roads in 90% of Indian cities and 100% of cities in Uttar Pradesh. This is what roads can look like when corruption doesn’t get in the way,” the user wrote.

The praise comes as Punjab continues to announce new road-related measures. On September 8, Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Maryam Nawaz approved Special Road Maintenance Squads in every district.

The squads will be responsible for daily inspection, cleanliness, maintenance and timely repair of damaged roads. She also directed authorities to ensure proper lane markings, traffic signs and directional signs, while mandating cat’s eyes and thermoplastic road markings on specified urban roads.

Earlier, the Punjab government also approved seven road packages under its Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme.

Under the approved arrangements, successful private bidders will construct and rehabilitate provincial roads and manage their operations for seven years, while sharing profits with the government.

The government has also approved changes to the bid evaluation process aimed at improving transparency.
