Reports claiming that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is set to get married have been circulating on social media since last week, with the party rejecting the rumours as unfounded.

The reports alleged that President Asif Ali Zardari travelled to Liechtenstein with family members to discuss Bilawal’s wedding and finalise a date. They further claimed that the wedding could take place towards the end of the year.

However, Bilawal and his family have not confirmed that such an event is about to take place.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, who is also Bilawal’s spokesperson, rejected the reports on social media, calling claims about the PPP chairman’s engagement or marriage “incorrect and unfounded”.

According to the reports, Bilawal’s alleged fiancée is 26-year-old Gloria, a former Austrian Archduchess. She is said to be the daughter of Archduke Karl of Austria and Francesca von Thyssen-Bornemisza and a member of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine.

Bilawal has previously spoken about his plans to marry. In 2022 he said, “Of course, I have plans to marry.”

In an interview with The Current in 2019, Bilawal also spoke about what he would look for in a future spouse, saying that he wanted to marry someone who gets along with his sisters.

“The right candidate will first have to win over the hearts of my sisters,” he had said.
