Chloe Kelly Seeks Exit from Manchester City After Negative Behavior

The 27-year-old forward has only made six appearances in the current Women's Super League season, starting just one game and finding herself on the sidelines again.

Manchester City is reportedly willing to let Kelly leave the team because they have already received an offer for her. The women's transfer period ends on Thursday. 

In an open statement on social media, Chloe Kelly admitted that her contract ends with the current season. I advise you to save energy and engage in reasonable combat, even though this may be hard for some people to comprehend. Contentious public discussions have never attracted me. However, concerning my predicament, which has been the center of debate lately, I now feel a shift in my situation. Therefore, I choose to speak.

This critical insight helps me understand that I have some mitigating control over negative behaviors that others might direct at me. I get to choose how long I will deem such behaviour tolerable. My teammates and fans have received tremendous support since the first day in the league. Now that my contract runs out in June, I know my future is beyond that bookmark.

Chloe Kelly posted on social media on Wednesday night that she was "no longer prepared to tolerate" the "negative behavior" she had been shown and that she would "be open and transparent" about her future. “Having my contract end in June has made it clear to me that I will be moving on from this club that same month,” she stated.

In the statement, Chloe Kelly hinted that "our dreams can be crushed while we live in silence," adding that she "just wants to be happy again."

The city is open to letting Chloe Kelly play elsewhere to ensure minutes are on the pitch. Still, sources close to the club insist they had only one appropriate offer as of Wednesday night, ahead of the transfer season closing on Thursday.

Kelly began her career at Arsenal, then spent five years at Everton before joining City in 2020. She was a squad member who won the FA Cup in 2020 and the League Cup in 2022 and has started 12 games during Gareth Taylor's team's season, with only four as a starter.
