Triple-Double From Amen Thompson Leads Rockets to 135-131 Victory Over Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers have lost three straight games for the first time. The third loss in a row happened on Saturday against the Houston Rockets. Amen Thompson recorded 23 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists for a triple-double. This led the Rockets to victory by 135-131 at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse.

At 36-9 (three consecutive losses, two straight at home), the Cavaliers are now half a game behind the Oklahoma City Thunder (with whom they both boast of the NBA’s best record). However, the Boston Celtics are sitting in fourth position with a gap of four and a half games after defeating the Dallas Mavericks by 122-107 on Saturday.

This is interesting since this team has seen the Houston Rockets beat them twice during this losing streak. In Darius Garland's inability to make two free throws in closing seconds that could have tied up the score, we had CAVs falling into the hands of their corruptor and going down with it.

In the relay on Saturday, Garland made an effort to make up for it by recording the game's highest points and assists of 39. He made 14 of 22 shots from the field, including 4 of 7 on three-pointers. Donovan Mitchell just fell short of his performance by putting away 33 points and seven assists.

Rockets Make History with 3rd Straight Win

The Rockets will become the first team in history to win three straight games against teams this good. It is a remarkable strategy for defeating teams with more than 40 games each, according to OptaSTATS.

Amen Thompson hit a floater over Jaylen Brown with only 0.7 seconds remaining, and that won it for the Rockets in Boston. “We feel like we can beat anybody and this road trip is proving that,” Amen Thompson stated.

The Rockets have been playing well since their 23-point loss to the Celtics at home on January 3 thanks to a balanced crest that includes Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, veteran Fred VanVleet, Amen Thompson, and Dillon Brooks.

Amen Thompson said, “We don’t like to lose games at home, especially to the Celtics. We just come in here every day looking to win.”
