Trump Announces Executive Order to Build ‘Iron Dome’ for the US

Donald Trump's latest strategies also focus on military diversity programs and transgender service personnel. He announced these executive orders in Florida. The US president said he would issue an executive order to build a missile defense system known as the "Iron Dome."

Additionally, when Trump spoke at the Republican congressmen's retreat at the Trump National Doral Miami Golf resort in South Florida, he committed. Trump stated that he would undertake steps to increase executive military personnel at the end of the day.

"Powerful is the word I wish to repeat three times,” Trump stated while standing on the podium. “We have to have a powerful, powerful, powerful defense. And in a little while, I will sign four new executive orders.”

The first was to upgrade the Iron Dome missile defense system to protect Americans, which has already been initiated.

He specified the other two orders would further enhance the United States armed forces by removing all diversity, equity, and inclusion policies alongside “transgender ideology” from the military. 

He further explained that another order poorly termed would be released. It would guarantee the reinstatement of service personnel discharged for failing to comply with the mandates set in place for the COVID-19 pandemic. Approximately 8 thousand armed forces members had been discharged for this reason from August 2021 to January 2023.

Why Trump Wants an ‘Iron Dome’ Defense 

President Trump has shown interest in installing a system of defense such as the ‘Iron Dome’ that Israel’s missile interception system offers to the United States. The purpose of this system is to protect the civilian population in Israel from rocket attacks. Likewise, he believes technology of such magnitude is vital for the US to ensure the safety of its cities, military bases, and other important infrastructure from possible missile attacks. This need has inevitably arisen with the advancement of relations with unfriendly countries and different actors that do not possess a state.

Trump’s recommendation shows his narrower stance of putting more power into the USA’s national security and protection from other threats in the future. He thinks that by seizing a system of defense like the one the Israelis have, the US would be able to increase its chances of stopping missiles that are incoming with more efficiency. This vision includes raising the security of the nation and cutting down on the use of traditional military force in other regions. Moreover, its vision is also to provide a faster, more proactive solution to the growing problem of missile defense.
