The bodies of retired Colonel Ishaq Qazi and his daughter, who were swept away by a flash flood in their car within a private housing society in Islamabad on Tuesday, have been recovered on the third day of the rescue operation.
According to reports, heavy rainfall in the federal capital caused severe flooding. Colonel Ishaq was driving with his daughter when their car broke down. A sudden surge of floodwater swept the vehicle away, leaving both missing.
Rescue operations had been underway since the incident. Initially, only the car’s bumper and side mirror were found in a stormwater drain within the housing society. The rest of the vehicle remained missing.
On Thursday, rescue teams confirmed that both bodies were recovered from the same location near the River Sawan.
