The body of four-year-old Noor Fatima has been recovered from a rainwater drain in Gujrat, three days after she was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed by her cousin, police officials have said.
Rescue teams recovered her body around five kilometres away after a three-day search operation. The operation began after 16-year-old Faizan, who is in police custody, provided information as to the child’s whereabouts.
The body was shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination while forensic teams collected evidence from the site.
Police officials said that six bodies, including those of two minor girls and five women, had been recovered from different areas of the district over the past 72 hours.
A young man was shot dead near Tanda, Gujrat while Noor Fatima was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed in Karim Daad, Gujrat.
Police officials also said 35-year-old Fozia was allegedly sexually assaulted and killed by her nephew.
In Dinga, Gujrat, three bodies, including that of a minor girl, were recovered floating in a pond, according to police.
