South African batter Rilee Rossouw has drawn a direct comparison between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Pakistan Super League (PSL), saying both competitions have their own pros and cons.
“IPL is a very long tournament, and Pakistan is much more compact where the competition is a lot more fierce. The IPL obviously has the whole Bollywood behind it so it’s a lot more of a movie than actual cricket, so both of them have their pros and cons,” he said during an interaction with media in Karachi on Saturday.
Rossouw is representing Quetta Gladiators in PSL 2026. In four innings so far, he has scored 79 runs at an average of 19.75 and a strike rate of 111.26.
His comments come at a time when the PSL’s ability to produce and spotlight talent has drawn wider attention.
Several players who featured in PSL, including Luke Wood, Tim Seifert, Kyle Jamieson, Jordan Cox, Ben Dwarshuis, Jason Holder and Finn Allen, were picked up by IPL franchises for the 2026 season, reinforcing the view that the PSL serves as one of the strongest talent identification platforms in world cricket.
Ongoing PSL season 11 is running from March 26 to May 3, and for the first time ever, features eight teams competing for the title.
