Bollywood veteran actress Mumtaz has praised the Pakistani drama Aap Ki Izzat, calling it one of her favourite shows.
“I have seen a series which is my favourite, whose name is ‘Aap Ki Izzat’, that I watch always,” she said during a recent interview.
Aap Ki Izzat follows Tabish, played by Ahsan Khan, and his wife Beena, played by Urwa Hocane, a couple married for 14 years.
Tabish reaches a point where he is ready to move on with his life and marry a woman younger and more dynamic than him. Beena, who has given her entire life to her family, is left confused and struggling to understand how Tabish has changed so much and how she has become invisible in his life.
The drama examines love, dignity and respect within a marriage as outside pressures begin to test the couple’s bond.
Ahsan Khan’s portrayal of Tabish has drawn a strong response online, with viewers reacting to how convincingly he plays the role.
One fan wrote, “OmG this scene is soooooooo traumatic Ahsan khn esa neg role krta h nafrat hojaye [sic].”
“Jiss tarha log Tabish se nafrat kar rahe hain Ahsan khan Sabit kar dia acting kese kehty hain amazing [sic],” wrote another.
A fan praised his range, writing, “You absolutely nailed this role! Your ability to change expressions in a matter of seconds showcases truly finessed acting skills. Applausse… though women start hating Tabish [sic].”
Another commented, “Ahsan Khan is bloody brilliant so so subtle. what an actor #aapkiizzat.”
Aap Ki Izzat, written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Saife Hassan, is currently being aired by Hum TV.
It is produced by Momina Duraid and Neena Kashif and stars Ahsan Khan and Urwa Hocane in the lead roles, alongside Sania Saeed in a supporting role.
