BTS member V has revealed that he has been undergoing treatment for hearing loss in one ear while the group continues its world tour.

During a livestream on Wednesday, the 30-year-old singer shared that he had been dealing with the condition for nearly two and a half years but was speaking about it publicly for the first time.

“If the hearing in my left ear is at 100, it’s only about 30 in my right,” said V, whose real name is Kim Tae-hyung.

The singer explained that his hearing worsened during military service, but he initially did not pay much attention to it because he believed it was “a matter of mental strength”.

He added that he is now taking medication and visiting the hospital regularly for treatment.

The announcement came during BTS’ first world tour since all seven members reunited after completing their mandatory military service.

In South Korea, most able-bodied men are required to complete 18 months of military service. BTS members began enlisting in 2022, when the group paused its activities.

V enlisted in 2023 and completed his military service in June 2025.

The Arirang World Tour began in South Korea in April and marked the return of all seven BTS members to the stage.

The livestream took place after BTS concluded its concerts in Baltimore, Maryland.

Fellow BTS member Jungkook also spoke up about a shin injury he has been managing during the tour.

He said that he was “on the verge of developing a stress fracture” and added that he would need to manage the injury to continue performing.

The tour is scheduled to continue in several cities, including Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Bangkok, Sydney and Hong Kong.
