The Crime Control Department (CCD) has killed a man accused of murdering his mother and two sisters in the name of honour in Multan, after he allegedly escaped from police custody a day earlier.

The suspect, identified as Aman Abbas, was killed in an alleged encounter on Thursday in Kahror Pacca, according to police officials.

Abbas had been handed over to the CCD by Multan’s DHA Police two days earlier. Police officials said that he escaped from CCD custody on Wednesday night before the department killed him the following day.

He was accused of killing his mother, Parveen, 35 and sisters Mehreen Fatima, 14 and Alf Fatima, 12, on October 28 before setting their bodies on fire to conceal the crime.

The three women were found dead after a fire broke out in a room on the second floor of a house near Adda Lutfabad on Bosan Road in Multan. The incident was initially reported as an accidental fire.

Multan Police announced Abbas’s arrest on Tuesday, alleging that he had killed the three women in the name of honour.

According to police, Abbas struck his mother and sisters on the head with a wooden object, leaving them unconscious, before pouring petrol over them and setting them on fire.

Investigators also obtained CCTV footage from a petrol pump where Abbas allegedly bought petrol for the crime. Police arrested employees of the petrol pump for supplying him with fuel.

A Multan Police spokesperson claimed that Abbas confessed to killing the three women during interrogation.

CCD said that Abbas was killed in an encounter in Kahror Pacca after escaping from its custody.
