Cambridge International Education (CIE) has launched an investigation into reports of a question paper leak during the ongoing June 2026 examination series.

The statement follows a wave of complaints on social media platforms where students and parents expressed concern over the integrity of the assessment process.

The reported leak involves the AS Level Mathematics paper. In an official response on Wednesday, the CIE stated it is “aware of news about a reported paper leak of a question paper”.

The organization confirmed that it investigates such reports thoroughly and will provide further information to examination centres if required, either during or after the conclusion of the June series.

Students across Pakistan are appearing for O Level, AS, and A Level examinations, which began on April 23 and are scheduled to continue until June 9. Social media users have highlighted the high examination fees paid to the board, noting that this is not the first instance of security breaches involving Cambridge papers in the country.

In 2025, the CIE admitted that content from three question papers was available before the scheduled exam dates. The papers affected last year included AS/A Level Mathematics Paper 12, Paper 42, and AS/A Level Computer Science Paper 22.

To address the breach, the board offered free resits in November 2025 for candidates who had taken the compromised June papers.

A similar incident occurred in 2024 involving the A-Level Mathematics paper. Following an inquiry, the CIE confirmed that a significant number of students in Pakistan had seen the paper before the exam began. In that instance, the board opted to issue assessed marks to the impacted students rather than conducting a retake.

The CIE is part of Cambridge University Press and Assessment and provides qualifications to schools in over 160 countries. In Pakistan, these examinations serve as the primary pathway for students seeking admission to local and international universities.
