Balochistan Chief Minister (CM) Mir Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti met National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) National Coordinator Maj Gen Faisal Naseer to discuss counterterrorism measures, intelligence coordination and efforts to improve security in the province.

The meeting on Sunday focused on strengthening cooperation between NACTA and the Balochistan government and developing a coordinated strategy aimed at establishing lasting peace, according to a statement issued by the Chief Minister’s Secretariat.

The two sides reviewed measures to improve the capacity of law-enforcement agencies and strengthen coordination and mutual cooperation to help prevent terrorist attacks more effectively.

They also discussed the overall law and order situation in Balochistan and measures to improve intelligence coordination as part of broader counterterrorism efforts.

Bugti praised Maj Gen Naseer’s services in counterterrorism and expressed appreciation for his role in advancing national security objectives, the statement said.

The meeting reflected the government’s stated commitment to intensifying efforts against terrorism and creating a secure environment for the people of Balochistan, according to the statement.

The discussions came a day after Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir visited Quetta Garrison, where he reiterated that the peace, prosperity and well-being of Balochistan’s people remained a priority for the state.

The visit followed a recent increase in terrorist activity across the province. Attacks were reported in Pishin and Chagai, while counterterrorism operations were conducted in Mastung, Kalat and Sibi over the past week.

NACTA is Pakistan’s civilian counterterrorism authority, responsible for coordinating national efforts against terrorism and improving cooperation among relevant institutions.
