Chief Minister (CM) of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered disciplinary action against Sub-Inspector (SI) Awais Arshad after a case was registered against him over allegations that he slapped a man infront of his wife during a hotel verification check.
In a statement on X, Maryam Nawaz shared a picture of the officer and said that he was present at the hotel for a verification process when the alleged incident took place.
Police arrested Awais Arshad after registering a case against him. Authorities also suspended him from service while initiating criminal and departmental proceedings.
The department has issued a charge sheet against the SI as part of the disciplinary process.
Maryam Nawaz stated that the government was ensuring accountability to prevent the misuse of authority and protect citizens’ rights. The chief minister also said the action aimed to ensure that officials did not misuse their authority and that the dignity, respect and rights of citizens remained protected.
The proceedings against Arshad will address the allegations through the relevant criminal and departmental processes.
