A Karachi court on Friday approved the acquittal plea of Anmol, alias Pinky, in a narcotics case.
As per details, the court acquitted her for lack of evidence and ordered her immediate release, unless another case requires her detention. The court observed that the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence against her.
Police registered the case at the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station in 2018. Before this decision, Anmol had already won acquittal in four other cases.
In August, an Additional District and Sessions Court (South) in Karachi approved her acquittal pleas in three drug cases registered at Gizri Police Station. Her defence counsel said police registered those cases in 2020, 2021 and 2022, and that the court had declared her an absconder in all three.
The lawyer told the court that it had already acquitted two co-accused, Ali and Fahmida, in 2024. He argued that police implicated Anmol only on the basis of statements the co-accused allegedly made.
Once the court cleared them, he said, the prosecution could no longer secure a conviction against her.
