The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has summoned journalist and vlogger Asad Toor for questioning over his claim that a senior intelligence official met jailed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.
The notice, issued by the NCCIA’s Rawalpindi cyber crime circle on September 15, directs Toor to appear at the agency’s Cybercrime Reporting Centre in Saddar, Rawalpindi, at noon on September 16.
The inquiry has been initiated under Section 26-A of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, as amended in 2025.
The provision relates to an offence under the cybercrime law, while the state has been listed as the complainant.
Toor had claimed in a vlog that a senior figure visited Adiala Jail late at night and met Imran Khan in a meeting that lasted from 1:30am to 4am.
He said security of the jail’s main entrance was handed over to the relevant institution before the visitor entered the facility in a Toyota Revo.
The notice asks Toor to record his version in his defence and warns that failure to appear would be dealt with under the law.
It states that non-compliance is punishable under Section 174 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which covers failure to comply with a legal summons.
Toor’s claims came amid preparations for a PTI march planned for September 27 and heightened political activity.
He also referred to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi’s statements during previous protests and his relative silence during the current tensions.
He further cited PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Khan as telling the National Assembly that contacts existed with Naqvi, but that their details could not be disclosed.
