Pakistani actress Dananeer Mobeen found herself at the centre of a social media debate after sharing a reel about getting a flat tyre and joking that she no longer wants to be independent.

When her car tyre got busted, Dananeer called a rescue team for help. She later shared the reel on her Instagram stories, writing, “Busted tyre and i don’t want to be independent anymore, just wanna be babied and taken care of and just dilly dally through a thick forest and bake banana bread.”

She also thanked the rescue team in her stories after they helped her out.

The post drew mixed reactions online. Some took it in good humour while others used it to argue that women who drive should know how to change a tyre.

“Well if a girl wants to drive she shud b able to change a tyre too,” one user commented.

Others pushed back against her take. “She’s cute…but I just can’t crack jokes on independent women.. apart from jokes being dependant is also a part of independence,” another wrote.

Some felt the debate was being taken too seriously. “Sometimes take a joke as a joke! It’s not that hard,” one person stated.

Dananeer first rose to fame in 2021 through her viral “Pawri Ho Rahi Hai” video on Instagram. The clip earned her the nickname “Pawri girl” and opened doors to acting offers.

She made her television debut in the drama Sinf-e-Aahan (2021-22), for which she won the Lux Style Award for Best Emerging Talent. She went on to star in Muhabbat Gumshuda Meri (2023) and Meem Se Mohabbat (2024), the latter opposite Ahad Raza Mir, which became one of her most acclaimed projects.

In May 2026, Dananeer made her film debut with Mera Lyari, a sports drama directed by Abu Aleeha and co-produced by Ayesha Omar, in which she plays an aspiring footballer from Karachi’s Lyari neighbourhood.

She is also set to appear in the upcoming HUM TV drama Hurmat, opposite Shahveer Jafry.
