Police in Daska on Tuesday claimed that they have solved the case of the brutal murder of two young siblings whose bodies were found in a graveyard earlier this week, revealing that the children were killed after one of them witnessed their mother in a compromising situation.

Six-year-old Umm-e-Kalsoom and three-year-old Waris, residents of Bheko Chhor in the Saddar police station jurisdiction, were reported missing on Sunday. Their father, Kashif, worked at the dera of local landlord Numbardar Yaqoob.

The children's bodies, which showed evidence of blunt-force trauma, were found in a nearby graveyard a day later. The shocking discovery sparked outrage and grief in the local community.

A special investigation team led by SP Investigation Usman Munir Saifi was formed by District Police Officer (DPO) Faisal Shahzad to look into the incident.

The main suspect, Malik Farooq, son of Numbardar Yaqoob, was taken into custody by police following a thorough investigation. Initial investigations suggest that  Farooq was having an affair with the children’s mother.

The older child allegedly witnessed them together in an inappropriate situation on the day of the incident. In order to hide the alleged extramarital affair with the children's mother, authorities claim that Farooq and the woman collaborated to kill both children out of fear of being exposed.

Both siblings were killed by repeated blows to the head with bricks.

DPO Faisal Shahzad called the incident a "shocking and barbaric act," promising that strict action would be taken to bring the killers to justice.
