Former Australian Test opener David Warner, who currently captains the Karachi Kings in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), faces drunk driving charges after his blood alcohol levels read 0.104, more than double the legal limit during a roadside breath test in Sydney on Sunday evening.
According to reports, New South Wales (NSW) Police were conducting stationary random breath testing on Malabar Road in the eastern suburb of Maroubra at around 5:30pm local time when officers noticed a van stop short of the testing site and park.
Officers from the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command approached the vehicle and subjected the driver to a roadside test, which returned a positive result.
Warner, 39, was arrested and taken to Maroubra Police Station, where a second test reportedly produced a reading of 0.104. The legal limit for a fully licensed driver in New South Wales is 0.05.
The 112-Test veteran is scheduled to appear before Downing Centre Local Court on 7 May 2026. He is due to arrive in Karachi on April 9 for the second leg of the PSL’s 11th edition.
