The fate of the home where Friends star Matthew Perry died has been revealed after devastating fires ravaged the Pacific Palisades neighbourhood in Los Angeles.

Anita Verma-Lillian, the new owner of the home where Perry died of an overdose in 2023, has confirmed that the star's former house, worth $8.55 million, remained safe thanks to the quick action of neighbours.

The house is located in the Pacific Palisades area, the rich neighbourhood at the brunt of the wildfires that swept Los Angeles. Less than two years ago, the house was at the center of a media storm as news cameras filmed Perry's body being wheeled out of his beloved home.

"One of our friends was able to get to the house, and they’ve confirmed that our house is OK,” Verma-Lallian told American media outlets. “There were a couple of small fires in the backyard that they were able to put water on and contain, and we’re just hoping that they stay contained. But as of now, our house is OK.”

Perry was found unresponsive in the same house on October 28, 2023. He was declared dead by emergency service responders in the afternoon. Two months later, a report revealed that the star, who had suffered from addiction, had died of the acute effects of ketamine with coronary artery disease contributing to Perry's untimely death.
