Mother of Aizal, the 18-month-old from Karachi who succumbed to sexual assault injuries last month, has accused YouTuber Rajab Butt of lying about helping her family, saying that he only visited to record his vlog and did not offer any assistance.
During a recent interview, a reporter asked the woman about the public figures, including TikTokers, YouTubers and prominent philanthropists, who had visited her after the case made headlines across the country.
She responded with allegations against Butt. “I don’t know where I heard him say that he had helped us off camera,” she said.
“I swear, I normally don’t swear, but I can say this with certainty that he did not help me with even a single rupee. He only came for his vlog, made the vlog, and left.”
She said Butt promised in front of reporters last Sunday that he would get the family a flat within a week. “That day has passed, and today is already here, but we still haven’t been contacted,” she said.
“If he does help us get a flat in the future, I will definitely come back and appreciate it or tell you all about it.”
The interview comes almost a week after Butt visited the family in Karachi and called for justice for the infant.
According to police, a teenage relative took Aizal with him from her home and returned her unconscious.
Her family took her to a private hospital and then to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where she died.
Police had subsequently arrested the suspect and registered a case under sections 375 (rape) and 302 (murder) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
