A video of an Argentinian football fan speaking out against President Javier Milei has gone viral on social media, with the woman condemning Israel and expressing solidarity with Palestine in front of the camera.
In the clip, she said, “Don’t believe our fcking president, he was put there with Israeli money!” She went on to say that no “real” Argentinian supports the current Israeli government, adding, “Viva Palestina. We have to stand together against this motherfcker!”
The video surfaced a day after footage from Gaza showed people celebrating Argentina’s 2-1 comeback win over England in the World Cup semi-final on Wednesday.
Argentina fell behind after Anthony Gordon’s goal in the 55th minute before Enzo Fernandez equalised in the 85th minute and Lautaro Martinez headed home the winner in stoppage time, with Lionel Messi assisting both goals. The result sends the defending champions into Sunday’s final against Spain in New York/New Jersey.
Milei has built one of the closest relationships any world leader has with Israel. Since taking office in December 2023, he has visited the country and made a public pledge to move Argentina’s embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, saying that he wanted to convey his support for Israel’s “right for self-defense” against Hamas.
Netanyahu’s ties to Milei have surfaced again during the tournament. Appearing on the Mojo Podcast earlier this month, he said that he was rooting for Argentina to win the World Cup, and when the host suggested this was because of Messi, Netanyahu replied, “No. Before Messi, Milei.” He went on to call the Argentine president “a real superstar” and “Israel’s greatest friend,” also praising his free-market economic policies.
According to a Pew Research Center survey conducted between February and May 2026, 55 percent of Argentines now hold an unfavorable view of Israel, up from 46 percent in 2025.
